And so it begins....

Last night, I was at home calibrating my new EVP Analyzer when it began to pick up something. At first they were just sighs or moans. Wondering if I had something more than just background noise, I turned on my EMF Detector. It showed a reading of 4.1 milligaus, well within parameters indicating paranormal activity.

"Who are you?" I asked.

No response, but the EMF Detector held steadily at 4.1.

"What is your name?"

I waited. The bar graph on the EVP Analyzer indicated it had received an anomalous signal, and in a moment, it played back the sound at an audible frequency.

Gabriella.

The voice was clear and distinct, and the Analyzer selected the same word from its built-in dictionary: Gabriella.

Thus began my first interview with a ghost.

"Did you live here?"

No.

"Did you die here?"

Silence.

"Are you a child?"

No.

"How did you die?"

Accident.

My family and I rent an old home in Burlington, Wisconsin. The home has been modified and added onto multiple times.

Our home in Burlington, WI

When we moved in, I was told not to go into the basement. At the time, I thought nothing of it. The landlady didn't want us going into the basement. No biggie. But now I am wondering if it was a warning. Did Gabriella have some sort of accident there?

"Did you die in the basement?"

Silence.

"Did you fall in the basement?"

Fell.

The stairs to the basement are concrete and rather steep. Did Gabriella take a tumble down those stairs and die? Perhaps striking her head on the stairs? What was she doing in the basement if she didn't live here? There are so many questions Gabriella has yet to answer.

The stairs to the basement, as seen from my laundry room.
You can see my reflection and glare from the automatic flash in the window above the stairs.

I took another photo with my Thermal Camera, but no anomalies are apparent.

What do you think? Should I ask my landlady for permission to investigate the basement? Or could I be opening a door that should remain closed? Let me know in the comments.
